Artist Statement
For Frontier, I delve into complex interplay between memory and imagination. I invite viewers to reflect on the often blurred lines between our lived experiences and the fantasies we construct around them. Each work is set in a desert, which for me is a metaphor for the wild west within us all. And in this sparse landscape, I use bold, rough and fading strokes of oil pastel to evoke the sensation of recalling a memory. I encourage the audience to think about how we hold on to beautiful experiences, and appreciate the inherent fragility of memories.
